Woodlawn was the home of Lawrence
Lewis, George Washington's nephew and his wife, Eleanor
"Nelly" Custis Lewis, Martha Washington's
granddaughter. The Georgian-style mansion was designed by
William Thornton and built between 1800 and 1805. Owned
and operated by the National Trust for Historic
Preservation. National Register site.
Open:
Open daily March through December; weekends
only in January and February with group tours by
appointment.
