The National Aquarium in Washington DCThe National Aquarium is the nation's first public aquarium. The 70 tanks house sea turtles, American alligators, sharks, piranha and 1,200 other specimens of marine life.

Open:
Daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except Christmas.
Admission: adults $2, children (ages 2-10) 75 cents.
